Fertility Facts

Fertility is one of the most commonly researched topics on the internet today. With so much information out there, it is difficult to know where to look for the facts. One great resource that we have found is the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). These organizations publish the success rates of all accredited Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) centers in the nation and conducts research in the state-of-the-art technology used when dealing with infertility. Other great resources include the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and Resolve.

 Facts About Infertility
  • A women’s fertility begins to decline rapidly after age 35.
  • Couples with normal functioning reproductive systems only have a 20-25% chance of pregnancy each month.
  • According to the CDC, 1 in 5 couples are unable to get pregnant after 1 year of trying.
  • ASRM notes a study showing 81% of infertility cases did not receive treatment, such as, drug therapy, IUI, IVF or surgical procedures.

Causes of Infertility

The purpose of infertility testing is to determine the origin of the problem in achieving successful pregnancy. Both partners will be evaluated, so we can determine the best treatment. There are several blood tests and other diagnostic procedures, such as, ultrasounds and HSG that can help determine the cause of infertility.
PCOS

Most women with PCOS are unaware they have it because their symptoms are viewed and treated individually rather than collectively. Women are typically not diagnosed until they suffer from infertility. Learn More
Endometriosis

More than five million women in the United States are affected by endometriosis each year. This disease causes tissue similar to the inside of your uterus to build up on the outside of your uterus. Severe pelvic pain is the most common symptom of endometriosis. Learn More
